Why I'm Running Now

What drives me to serve is simple. We can’t afford politics as usual, especially with what's coming out of Washington threatening us and our way of life. I’m no stranger to a fight. I fought Blue Cross Blue Shield and won coverage for myself and thousands of others. Then, I fought breast cancer and won. Southern Oregon needs someone in the State Senate who will fight for us.

I’m ready to serve the resilient people of District 3, from Medford, Phoenix, Talent, Ashland, Greensprings, Jacksonville, Ruch, and the Applegate Valley, who deserve a senator ready to collaborate, innovate, and deliver real results for Southern Oregon.

I’m Fighting for Affordability for All of Us

People just want to be able to afford to live comfortably and feel safe. I think about families who can’t afford to buy a home, afford rent, or afford rising energy bills. Meanwhile, big corporations are posting record profits and jacking up our prices even higher. I think about kids who need good and safe schools where they can learn and grow. It shouldn't matter if you live in Medford, Ashland or in a small farming town, fairness means everyone has the same opportunities to build a good life.

The thousands of people I’ve spoken to in recent months have made one thing crystal clear. They feel like the system is rigged and are worried their children and grandchildren aren't going to get a fair shake.

In fact, I've felt the same thing with my own son, Alex. Even though he's had some advantages, I still worry that, despite him doing the right things, working hard at college, and giving it his best, he's still not going to have the opportunities we've dreamt of for our kids.

That's why I'm working hard to earn your vote. I'm ready to represent Southern Oregon and work with you to restore the American dream, keeping what's working and rebuilding what's not, while adapting to our changing times. Together, we'll find new ways to make life better for everyone. 

I'm a fighter. I'll work tirelessly to find solutions to the serious problems we face. When you vote for me, you're getting someone who’s taken on the big insurance companies – and won. As a public health expert, I will champion healthcare reform, advocate for affordable housing, support policies that lower the high costs of living, improve access to quality education, and protect our climate, voting rights, and reproductive freedom.
